About the Artist
Nicola Styan attained a BA in Fine Art specialising in Printmaking at Winchester School of Art and an MA at the University of Brighton. She was a lecturer and moderator in London art and design colleges for over ten years. She is a Printmakers Council committee member, makes limited edition screen prints and has published books of her work.
Styan’s iconic views of London document the juxtaposition of the old and new constructions that are redefining form and space in memorable locations. Her prints document time and place and the environmental conditions of the moment. In her prints, naturalistic elements can co-exist with an artificial spectacle of the man made environment. Her most recent screen prints reflect this through the use of vibrant colour and abstract form.
Her books Fingerprint Remembers London in 2012 (published 2013) and Fingerprint’s London Annual Events (published 2016), represent the artist at the scene of iconic London locations. Her work has been bought by a variety of people in the media and is included in collections held by the V&A.
