About the Artist
At the age of 18 Justin Norcott entered a drypoint of his mother at the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition which was
was displayed that summer and sold.
He studied printmaking at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff . During this time he exhibited at the Battersea affordable art fair as well as various locations in Cardiff regularly selling his artwork . He has since held several solo exhibitions in Belgravia , as well as displaying his art at various group exhibitions in London .. Exhibiting at the Multiplied Art Fair at Christine’s and the Royal college of art .
Collectors of Norcotts artwork describe his creativity in that the more you look at it the more you see, which portays his now unique subtle style perfectly.
He views the intaglio form of printmaking Drypoint as an extension to his drawings . He enjoys the suspense each time a print is made . Sketching the image onto the plate, a build up of tone, inking it up and printing it and seeing it constantly change through each process he finds fascinating.
Without being too preoccupied with the technicalities of printmaking as his work is about the art itself and not the process.
His subject matter does vary . Whether it be someone’s face he finds interesting or a sublime view of venice. His london drypoints give the viewer the feeling they are looking at london from perhaps 150 years ago.
