It’s time to start feeling festive! Get in the mood by hand printing your own wrapping paper using lino.

COURSE CONTENT

 The morning starts with a quick introduction to the process and how to work with soft-cut lino and then we will begin making our blocks. You’ll choose whether to make one larger block, or two smaller ones and will print them onto brown paper.

 You will leave with… one or two sheets of brown paper printed with your designs and your lino blocks that you can continue to print with at home. Lino kits will be available to buy on the day if you would like to keep making stamps at home.

WHO IS THIS FESTIVE PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP FOR?

This class is perfect for beginners to printing or those with some experience who need a bit of space to spread out in.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT

All printmaking tools, materials and equipment will be provided. Please bring your sketchbook, basic drawing materials and some design ideas and reference material to work from.

Group size is limited to 6 people, to give you plenty of space to work in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. There will be opportunities to ask questions throughout the session. Please arrive at 09:30 for a cup of tea or coffee and introductions. The workshop will finish between 13:00 and 13:30, but please note that times may vary depending on the speed at which you work. Teas and coffees are provided throughout.

A new two day introduction to screen printing, covering traditional and experimental techniques.

COURSE CONTENT

On Day One you will learn the basics in screen printing, using small screens and thermofax before moving on to create a two or three colour tonal design using the larger screens. You will learn how to mix inks and register a multicolour design.

 On Day Two you will be introduced to further experimental techniques, including monoprinting with screens and working with positive stencils. In the afternoon you will complete your final two colour design.

You will leave with… three tonal prints and five two-colour prints on paper, as well as your experimental papers. You will have the skills to keep printing at home or at Print Club.

WHO IS THIS SCREEN PRINTING WORKSHOP FOR?

Beginners and those with a little printmaking experience who want to develop their skills. After this class, you might be interested in further screen printing classes or joining us at Print Club.

A fun, relaxed two day course where you will learn the basics of designing and printing onto fabric.

COURSE CONTENT

On Day One we explore relief printmaking, beginning with organic shapes and developing simple prints and designs. By the end of the day you will know how to get set up at home, have tried out several different brands of ink and explored printing complementary designs and patterns onto fabric with both temporary and permanent relief stamps.

On Day Two, we look at stencil screen printing, working on both a small and a large scale. There will be opportunities to experiment with repeat pattern and thermofax printing. By the end of the day you will have a good understanding of the process of screen printing and you will know how to register a two-colour design.

Throughout the course there will be an emphasis on experimentation so that you can develop your techniques and learn a multitude of skills to continue your printmaking at home.

You will leave with… fabric printed with samples of your designs and your relief stamps that can be used in future projects at home.

WHO IS THIS FABRIC PRINTING COURSE FOR?

This workshop is suitable for beginners with no printmaking or design experience and those who have some printmaking experience who would like to transfer this knowledge to fabric. It is ideal for dabblers and creative people who are interested in printing their own textiles and the skills are easily continued at home. We begin each session with a demonstration of the skills we will be covering so no previous experience is necessary.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT

All printmaking tools and equipment will be provided for each session. You are advised to bring along a sketchbook and basic drawing materials and any design ideas or reference materials you have in mind.

Fabric: You will be provided with a starter pack of plain white cotton and a cotton tote bag to print on. However, I recommend that you bring along your own selection of fabrics to fully explore each technique, for instance cotton or linen in different colours, lighter shades will be most effective. Different fabrics will result in a slightly different print. We will mostly be working on a small scale, so smaller offcuts of fabric may be useful too.
