About the Artist
My work explores solitary spaces and by depicting those locations I hope to bring some of that exploration to the viewer of my work.
I work primarily in printmaking using photography and drawing. I record places, buildings, urban signs and found objects with drawing and photography.
I like the surprise and the sometimes uncontrollable variables in the process of printmaking. I am interested in the challenge and the printmaker’s paradox of pushing on to experiment, where process is more important than outcome, whilst going deeper into existing projects and editions.
I also work in traditional etching, making collages, trace monoprints and monotypes in water and oil-based inks and adapting prints also by painting with ink, watercolour and acrylic and by incorporating sections, fragments and complete prints into collages through digital manipulation.
Currently showing at Late November Gallery in Haverfordwest, where there will be a printmaking workshop run by Theresa Pateman. Two days: Friday 3 August, drypoint etching, and Saturday 4 August, acid etching using copper plates pre-prepared with ground which will be subsequently etched with Ferric Chloride. Price for each day (10am-4pm) is £45 and further details are available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
