About the Artist
Cecile Fossy is a London based artist / printmaker, graduated with a Foundation degree in Art & Design from Chelsea College of Art in London, an MA in Design Studies from Central Saint Martins School of Art & Design and an OCR level 2 with distinction in Art & Design specialised in Printmaking, from Kensington & Chelsea College in London.
Her projects are inspired by naturalists’ work and engravings, from 18th century Georges-Louis Buffon ‘Histoire Naturelle, an encyclopaedic work’, to 19th century Pierre-Joseph Redouté and the work of modern artists.
Using in mono print techniques, involving carborundum & on metal plates, she aims at celebrating the complexity and roughness of natural life. Through patterns, movements and attitudes, she wishes to capture the essence and the instinct for life of the animals she is representing.
