About the Artist
Originally inspired by Brutalist architecture of famous London landmarks, a multitude of images have been brought together to impart the surfaces, textures and angles experienced when observing such buildings.
The Barbican series conveys the sense of solitude that often accompanies exploring the walkways, stairwells and corridors of this space. Buildings surround the viewer and a multitude of viewpoints distorts the sense of space and convey a sense of unease.
Biography
Claire Hynds is a London based artist. A member of East London Printmakers and the Printmakers Council she has exhibited throughout the UK and internationally and has work in collections at the V&A and the National Museum and Gallery of Wales. Having studied printmaking at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff and completed a Masters at the University of the West of England, Claire Hynds is a lecturer in printmaking at Kensington and Chelsea College, and Visual Communication at University of West London, dividing her time between this and her studio.
