About the Artist
My practice revolves around memories of places visited and objects within them. Images and feelings are retraced to create an essence of these spaces. My work is often identified uniquely for the colour and texture I use in my screen prints, as well as blind embossings that are devoid of colour.
In 2016 I was commissioned by BPN Architects, Birmingham to make a series of screen prints exploring the changing cityscape. I found new ways of using iconic buildings and concealed spaces that were being revealed in the process of new building or reconstruction in the city.
I have experience of working on Grants for the Arts group projects funded by ACE and Shropshire Council with artistic, heritage and museum focused work. These have included partnerships with Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery, National Trust, Wenlock Poetry Festival, Wrexham Museums, St Chad’s Shrewsbury.
Recently I have been awarded an Arts Council National Lottery Project Grant for collaboration in a group of artists ‘Printmakers Pushing the Boundaries’ to provide support for a group exhibition and group community workshops at the Qube, Oswestry. Also, in the last month I have been awarded an Arts Council Developing Your Creative Practice grant to spend time on research, networking and mentoring to focus on my practice and make it more sustainable. I will also be creating new work.
Awards include finalist in the neo:Print Prize, and Nottingham Castle Open Exhibition Prize, Prize winner in the Shropshire Open and shortlisted for the RA Summer Show. Exhibitions include a solo show in Birmingham (2018). I was selected to take part in curating and exhibiting in a group show at The Old Lock Up Gallery ‘Hang Small’. I have taken part in exhibitions with Printmakers Council, London: ‘Time’; ‘Colour’ and ‘Nature’. Other recent exhibition selections include the Print International at Ty Pawb, Wrexham (2019) (2021) a group exhibition at RBSA Gallery, Birmingham (2021) and the Tarpey Gallery Open.
