Heather Muise received her BFA in Visual Arts from the University of Windsor, Canada, and her MFA concentrating in Printmaking at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA and completed a Master of Library Science at North Carolina Central University, USA.
Her work has been included in over 200 exhibitions on 4 continents, most recently, The Resistance of Women Exhibition at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Beyond the Norm at the University of Illinois. Heather’s prints are also held in numerous collections including the Library of Congress, Washington, USA, the National Museum of Poland, and the Chinese Printmaking Museum in Guanlan, China.
Heather taught printmaking in the United Arab Emirates for seven years and seeks to use art to foster communication and collaboration between cultures. She now teaches printmaking at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, USA.
She is currently working on a series of prints using etching and aquatint techniques that explore imagery from her environment, dreams, and natural disasters. Her work often uses esoteric or codified imagery that conjures up ideas of magic, divination and possibilities that may or may not exist in our world, to suggest to the viewer, rather than narrate.
