ABOUT
BIOGRAPHY:
Biagio Mastroianni is best known for his works exploring current and futuristic socio-political events. He began his artistic career with the theme of ‘La Smorfia’, The Lottery game in Naples, and scenes from London. After an apprenticeship as a photo lithographer, Biagio graduated as an illustrator from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Lucerne, Switzerland. He lives in London and Lucerne. His paintings, drawings, and various techniques of figurative and abstract artistic prints are exhibited in London, New York, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, and published in renowned international magazines and newspapers. Some prints are part of the
collection at the V&A, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and at Scarborough, Museum of Permanent Print Collection, UK.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
‘I am an illustrator, painter, and Fine-Art printmaker
who portrays society and modern events through pain8ng.
I work in London and Lucerne, Switzerland.
My aim is to showcase my sociopolitical and poetic works,
even in a futuristic context. I draw inspiration from literature,
from historical references by German painters and illustrators
of the 20.th Century like George Grosz, OEo Dix, E.L. Kirchner
and from Italian Futurists artists Luigi Russolo and Umberto Boccioni.
Also, from my research from various sources,
from my travels to other places and countries.’
