Lime Art currently requires printmakers for an Artist in Residence Programme based at the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. This is a new project which we are really excited about here at Lime and one which we would like to invite artists with specialism in printmaking to apply for.

Please find attached the brief for this residency which includes further details about what the residency will involve. It would be brilliant if you could distribute this information across your artist networks.

Alternatively – you can post the info below description out on blogs/e-newsletters etc.

 Hospital Printmaking Residency Programme 2019

LIME is seeking experienced printmakers who can work with Nursing and Midwifery staff and patients at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) to produce a unique body of print based artworks. There are currently two residency opportunities available:

Residency 1: Nursing, Trauma + PTSD – This residency will aim to inform the wider public about the nursing profession by exploring ‘the nurses experience’ and the systems and practices in place. The residency will take place across the MFT Central Site, located at the Manchester Oxford Road Campus.

Residency 2: Elective Caesarean – This residency will aim to reduce anxiety and stress associated with Elective Caesarean through an exploration of the procedure and the associated emotional impact it has on pregnant women. The residency will take place in the Maternity Unit and public waiting areas at St. Mary’s Women and Children’s Hospital, located at the Manchester Oxford Road Campus

For the initial application stage, artists are asked to submit an expression of interest, identifying their preferred residency, plus supporting documentation to include a statement of intent, CV and images of recent work. Artists, who demonstrate excellent artistic skills and relevant knowledge and experience, will be invited to attend an interview to present their ideas and approach in more detail.

Artistic outcomes are ‘open ended’, however artists are expected to adopt a co-creative and/or participatory approach to the development of new works, engaging staff and patient groups throughout the residency.

Residencies will run over a five month period through February-July 2019. Selected artists will be expected to allocate one half day per week, on site at the Oxford Road Campus.

Lime will provide training and mentoring for artists in Residence

Artists will have access to the *NEW* Lime Hospital Printmaking Studio that includes a ROLLACO etching press and screen printing equipment. The Lime Hospital Printmaking Studio is located on the hospital site, at the Oxford Road Campus at Lime HQ.

Artist fee: £2,400 and £500 materials budget.

Submission Deadline: Monday 21st January 2019

Interview: Friday 25th January 2019
