Laura is a painter/printmaker working mainly with screen print.
Her subject matter is varied but recently her interest has been to explore the juxtaposition of the city/built environment and the natural world which exist side by side – especially in cities like London (the city she is most familiar with) with all its open spaces and parks etc.

However, above all she is in love with colours. She works with transparent colours in layers which in turn, produce other colours. She especially loves bright, saturated colours which ‘sing’ when placed side by side. She loves the process of letting the prints grow organically, while at the same time having control of the whole image. She says she loves the way colours interact with each other on the picture plane as she tries to tell her story.
Most of her prints are small editions but sometimes she likes to work directly onto the screen creating mono screen prints which she feels is a painterly and dynamic way of making images. Although she has to work fast, the result is exciting and she intends to do more of this in the future.
She is taking part in Harrow Open Studios in June https://www.harrowopenstudios.com/
